Next week, Kiwi actress, storyteller, playwright and inspirer extraordinaire comes to The Hague with her unique set of plays to entertain us. As a writer and word lover I was delighted to hear about Letteracy. This play, devised, written and performed by Tanya has been created in praise of letter-writing. Don’t miss it. Please.

Tanya is here 5-15 June and is running a storytelling workshop, a children’s play called Box of Foxes and many other wondrous things, but Letteracy is ONLY on 5th and 6th at the Communication Museum in Zeestraat. I’ll be there. More info at

I was delighted to meet two of the Tempo Team employees a couple of weeks ago. For, despite offering to brainstorm with many other recruitment agencies over the years, with a view to finding a solution to the dual career issue, they were the first, ever, to take me up on it.

On November 3rd at 3pm in their offices at Spui 12, they are hosting a Focus Group Session in association with The Hague International Spirit (THIS) in order to start discussions with people who care about this issue and want to make a change.

Drinks and nibbles will be provided, so, if you can be part of this first, exciting session, please get in touch with

I belong to a great networking group here in The Hague, called Connecting Women. This year is our 10th anniversary and to celebrate we are collecting stories from our members old and new. These stories are available online for everyone to see and be inspired by. Do take a look. As soon as we have 100 we are going to produce a print book. If you want to see what kind of a bunch we are – and see me too (I am in the red dress) then take a look at the photos we have posted from our anniversary dinner at Madurodam.

I have always believed that belonging to a group like Connecting Women is key to my settling in somewhere new. In fact, joining a group that shares my own interests is the first thing I do when I arrive. The next thing I do is to try to get a position on the board. After six months here, I joined CW in charge of workshops.

Despite my own passion for networking, it seems others do not share my enthusiasm. This is why I am now offering a new workshop called Networking Know-How, designed to dispel all those myths and fears and have you all clamouring to network too!
